A View From My Christmas

The wrapping wasn’t perfect.
My house hasn’t been mopped or swept yet this week. (ok let’s be honest it’s been more like two weeks!)
I didn’t make homemade candy.
We missed several holiday parties.
I didn’t have professional pictures made.
Holiday cards didn’t happen.
Parts of this season have been downright hard to face.
.

.But despite not living up to the expectations of the season, and even though there were ’Christmas hopes’ that weren’t fulfilled today, my children woke up with smiles and laughter this morning, and that my friends is how I want to remember this Christmas.

Living in a thrill of hope..

Over 2000 years ago a weary world rejoiced. The Israelites were accustomed to pain and suffering. God’s people lived enslaved and lacked peace. See they knew first hand the pain and sufferings of waiting for the coming King.

There was a long gap between the given promise and the fulfillment that came in the form of a baby in a manager.
A period of waiting and unmet desire we sometimes miss.

Honestly it’s where I am at today, and maybe you’ve been there before too, maybe you are there now.
The birth of Jesus, Christmas, is the reminder of light coming into a season of darkness.

There’s hope.

A new and glorious morn is on the horizon, for me. for you. for the weary world.

Thank you God for hope, for your Son, and for birthing new things.
