Brave.
It wasn’t something I was but something I became this year.
I learned to bravely let go.
To smile through pain.
Overcome grief like i’ve never known.
Walk in to rooms and situations alone.
Answer hard questions from friends and neighbors.
Hold my kids through long nights of tears.
Forgive what many would call unforgivable.
I found that in my grief and loneliness the Lord was there gently sustaining me.
I learned to bravely let go and face the death of what I thought my life would look like so that He could bring hope for a new tomorrow.
Even though 2018 was hard, I can hold my head high and know that it is all going to be ok, because He is near the brokenhearted.
It may hurt and it may not look like how I imagined, but in Him, and through Him He will restore all things lost.
That’s what He does.
He takes broken things and makes them beautiful.
So there’s no awesome list of accomplishments, or pictures of trips made or happy family moments reflecting the year. Honestly most of it I’d like to not remember and only take away the fact that God is faithful and there is hope for tomorrow.
So here’s to 2019 and watching God do only what He can do.
